Try It Again!

Luke 5:4-5 (AMP)

When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon [Peter], “Put out into the deep water and lower your nets for a catch [of fish].” Simon replied, “Master, we worked hard all night [to the point of exhaustion] and caught nothing [in our nets], but at Your word I will [do as you say and] lower the nets [again].”

The passage of scripture above is a very familiar passage that many of us have read and heard talked about many times before.  However, behind our preaching and teaching of the text there is a simple message that I believe God was trying to get to us.  TRY ONE MORE TIME!

Another point in this passage of scripture that stands out for me is that our education, intellect, and experiences won’t always get us what we want but it often take our obedience when facing difficult things in front of us.  So we see a group of professional (not amateur) fishermen that knew how to fish appropriately and probably had past successes using the same methods they were using on this day but for some reason it was so bad even they  gave up and begin to pack there bags to leave.  Have you ever given up on something and in the back of your mind and the bottom of your spirit said try one more time and it just may work?  The physical factors haven’t changed but for some reason it may just work this time. and secondly, who wants to live with the regret of not trying their hardest.

What we can learn from this is in order to receive the promise of God it takes obedience not your intellect or experience.  It is only by faith and obedience that God moves by.  Tears won’t do it, your need(s) won’t do it, and your degrees surely won’t get it done.  We have to understand that at our very best we aren’t even close to God’s worse if there was such a thing.  God does not need your title, occupation, or your resources to give you what he promised.  What he started in you He will complete it and there is nothing you can do about it.

I challenge you today that whatever you were about to give up on DON’T DO IT!  Try one more time and watch God turn it around.  You are closer to your miracle than you have ever been.  You are not where you want to be but you are closer to God’s promise over your life than you have ever been before.  And for the record, it’s a further trip to turn around and go back to where you were and to stay where you are is a strange land called mediocracy.   God has called you to greatness and it is straight ahead not behind you.  Your best days are ahead of you so don’t give up.  Cast your nets not because I told you, your mama or daddy told you but because God said so.  Get your net and began to confess to God what you want in your net and God’s gonna fill it because He promised if we call on him he would answer and show us great and mighty things we know not of.  Expect it and receive it and give God the glory when you get it.

LET’S LIVE ABUNDANTLY,

LORENZO JANUARY
