2 Timothy 3:1-4(AMP)
1 BUT UNDERSTAND this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear].
2 For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane.
3 [They will be] without natural [human] affection (callous and inhuman), relentless (admitting of no truce or appeasement); [they will be] slanderers (false accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good.
4 [They will be] treacherous [betrayers], rash, [and] inflated with self-conceit. [They will be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God.
Looking at yesterday’s events in Orlando made me take a look at life all over again and refocus on what’s important. This tragic event brings to reality where we are in the world today. This is very disturbing but yet in all of this we have hope. God never promised us that trouble would not come but he did promise to never leave us nor fosake us and deliver us from ALL of our afflictions. So it’s comforting to know I serve a God that can’t lie or fail.
Well, I know many of us are asking why and trying to understand how things like this can happen. Honestly, I don’t have all the answers but the one thing that gives me hope and peace is that my soul is anchored in God. He is stable, reliable, faithful, loving, powerful, and mighty and doesn’t have the ability to lie because he is the truth. So if he says something I believe it and he will do just what he said.
My advice to each of you is to make sure that in this storm called life you have a sure anchor so you can experience peace in the storm. It is in these times that we can appreciate God’s peace, joy, and love rather than blame him for it all because God is not the problem but it’s the things that the scripture above lists that has consumed us and separated our country from God. However, God won’t force us to turn to him but wants us to willingly draw nigh to him.
I encourage each one of you to be steadfast and unmovable abounding in the Word of God. Heaven and earth will pass away but his Word will stand forever. Rest in his love and allow God to be Lord of your life and you will see your expected end. I speak that peace and joy reigns over your lives and that the glory God has placed in you comes forth because tomorrow is not promised and THIS IS IT!
Let’s live abundantly,
LORENZO JANUARY
