Haggai 2:9

The latter glory of this house [with its successor, to which Jesus came] shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts; and in this place will I give peace and prosperity, says the Lord of hosts.

In a democratic society like America everyone has a right to expression and equality but I’m not so sure that it’s a blessing but may be a setup for our biggest downfall.  Hear me out.. 

Has our sense of entitlement to moral freedom and civil rights caused us to legislate God out of our lives and ultimately out of our country?   The “I” syndrome has infected a generation to believe that doing life our way is ok.  The only problem is that as Christians we live under a Kingdom with a King who knows what we need and how to give it to us so there should be a conflict with democracy in the heart of the Christian.   This leads me to the scripture above.  God promises us that the house of God was being rebuilt and that the glory of it would be greater than the former house.   Keep in mind that this is not referencing to the outer beauty of the building but the substance that the house would be filled with.  God always chooses substance over beauty.  To endure the cross for us is proof of it. Is your reputation more important than God’s?

As a result of the work of the cross in you, when people look into your life (your marriage, career, maturity,  character, finances, etc.)  it would be greater as a result of God expressing or manifesting himself in your life. This is the glory that changes lives daily.   

I know you go to church but does God have freedom of expression in your life like we have in America.  Today,  social media has given everyone a platform of expression,  legislation allows me to go in whatever bathroom I like regardless of gender,  marry whom I please regardless of gender, but what about God.  Anything goes in America but when it comes to God we try put him in a box or eliminate him all together.  The goal is to make God fit our lifestyle versus us conforming to his.    Reminds me of when they crucified Jesus they thought they were getting rid of him but they were only adding to the family because now millions call him father and proclaim him as Lord of their lives and it only took 3 days to get this done.   I will bet on it that if they knew the truth they wouldn’t have crucified him. However,  it’s already done!!   

In closing,  I pray that God has freedom of expression in your life. I pray you don’t submit to this “Have it your way” society but submit to the power and authority of God and watch the latter glory of your house be greater than the former.
