I Will Taste!

Psalms 34:8

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

No matter what religion you believe in, church you attend, or family you are in there are inner needs that every individual longs for.  The need to be loved, accepted, and to succeed are just a few.  Many attempt daily to fill these voids through drugs, sex, power, and other things but still find ourselves empty because God’s intent when he made man was to fill those voids in our lives daily and furthermore it comes with the salvation package.  I know many times the church doesn’t make God attractive or worthy of trying him in our lives but I challenge you to taste as see that God is good and he can satisfy our souls.

I am reminded when I was little I would just look at something and make a decision that I would never eat something simply because of the way it looked.  However, as I grew older I recognized that it is not what something looks like that determines whether it is good or not but rather what it is made of that makes it good. My mom would say taste it first boy!  I would taste it and often say oh wow, that’s better than I thought. Even on the cross where his body was mangled and unrecognizable Jesus was still good.

I can even go further to say that there are some things like medicine that don’t taste good  but is good for us. Well, Jesus is the same way.  The christian life is not always attractive and even can be difficult, but, I guarantee you it is good if we would only give it a try.  When you get to know God, even when his way is not your way, you understand that the nature of God is to do what’s best for you.  He will never put systems in place or does things that will lead to our destruction but God builds us up just as going to the gym builds up an athlete.

So I encourage each one of you that this is the season to stop the excuses of why you are not living life God’s way.  Just as you don’t expect weight loss the first day of the diet or muscles on the first day at the gym don’t expect God’s way to always show results immediately.  Life is a process so keep doing life God’s way and you will eventually see your life transform.

In closing, you see in scripture that the result or the blessing comes to those that TRUST God not to those that give up.  You stuck with the diet, you kept going to the gym even though the scales didn’t say what you wanted so stick with God and you will see the blessing of God overtake your life.  God is Good and his mercy endures forever.  Expect to see his goodness in the land of the living and believe you can have heaven on earth if you trust God for it.  God we are not entitled but our prayer today is we do need you in our lives and we do depend on you for every breath we breath.
