John 15:1-8
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
We can clearly see that in scripture that when we separate ourselves from God we eliminate and lessen our chances for results in our lives. Jesus is emphasizing that no matter what is going on in our lives that we must stay connected to him. This brings me to the conclusion that the problem is not the lack of resources, injustice, or culture but the lack of a strong root in our lives. We are looking for fruit when we have planted no seed and we are not rooted in God as we are commanded to be. So what happens is anything that comes by or any wind that blows past us is able to pluck us up from what we believe and know to be true.
In a world that has prided itself in technology, intelligence, and currency it is easy to drift away into our own world and not abide in God who gives us the power to produce results. The disappointment, bitterness, and frustration you have been experiencing does not come from family, your job, or any other individual or situation. It comes from living a life with no fruit even though you are working hard but doing it without God.
I challenge you today to acknowledge that it is not by power or might but by the spirit of God that we produce in our lives. Allow God to prune your tree and replant yourself in him so the dreams and visions you have for your life can become a reality. You are not smart enough or rich enough to make it happen without God so glorify God by abiding in him daily and see your life change! Remember if you want fruit get rooted and grounded in God today!
Let’s live abundantly!
